Isaac G. Burnet was born in 1784 in Newark, New Jersey, and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1804. He was a lawyer, a newspaper editor, and was elected mayor of Cincinnati 1819. Burnet, David Gouverneur, 1789-1870

David Gouverneur Burnet (1788-1870) was born in Newark, New Jersey. About 1817 he moved to Natchitoches, Louisiana, and in 1831 to Texas. He was ad interim president of the Republic of Texas from March 17 to October 22, 1836. In 1836 he was elected vice president of the Republic of Texas, serving part time as secretary of state and acting president. From the guide to the David G.
